A new Edeka store has opened in Birkenfeld, south west of Frankfurt, creating 29 new jobs.
The Edeka Decker store, led by fourth generation store owner Alexandra Decker, is 1,600 square metres in size, and features approximately 25,000 SKUs.
Edeka Decker is a member of four regional sourcing initiatives, 'SooNahe', 'Ebbes von Hei', 'Bestes aus dem St. Wendeler Land' and 'Landschaftspflegeverband Birkenfelder Land', and boasts a large range of locally-sourced products, including dairy sourced from Bliesgau dairy in Ommersheim and meat from Metzgerei Braun in Konken.
The store is also environmentally-friendly, using modern heat pump technology, CO²-refrigeration systems, heat recovery, LED-lighting technology as well as energy-saving glazing on all refrigerator and freezer cabinets.
