Wholesale operator Makro Nederland has announced Paulo Peereboom as its new chief executive, effective from the start of January.
Peereboom joins the cash and carry operator from South African retailer Pick & Pay, where he holds the position of group commercial and supply chain director, and is also a member of the retailer’s executive board.
Prior to that, he was a senior vice president at Royal Ahold in the Netherlands, with responsibility for store operations. He also previously held senior positions with ICA Norge and Rimi Baltic.
According to Dutch trade publication Distrifood, Peereboom is taking over the role at Makro, part of Metro AG, from Kef van Helbergen, who has been with the operator since 2007, in a variety of roles both in its Düsseldorf headquarters and overseas. He has held responsibility for Makro Nederland since 2014.
