German discounter Penny has joined Germany’s largest coupon programme, Payback.
Penny customers will be able to collect Payback points at all of the retailer’s 2,150 stores as well as - at a later date - from its online shopping site www.penny.de.
Points can be collected with either Penny and Payback cards or with a new Payback card featuring Penny branding (see image). Customers can also collect points at Penny stores with their smartphones using the Payback app.
Payback is a coupon and bonus program that boasts more than 30 million customers in Germany and is connected to 650 partner companies, including DM-Drogerie Markt, Real, Rewe and Alnatura.
Customer Incentive
“From today, shopping at Penny will become even more attractive,” said Stefan Magel, divisional board member trading Germany and COO Penny. “Our customers can now easily collect points, benefit from coupons and redeem points later in different ways, such as a credit to pay at Penny.”
Bernhard Brugger, managing director of Payback and EVP of the Global Loyalty Coalition said, “Many of our 30 million German customers have been wanting to collect points from Penny.
“We are pleased that we were able to convince Penny with our digital and mobile services and that the company now is able to provide its customers with highly relevant coupons and offers."
Penny, which is part of the Rewe Group, reported a turnover of €7.4 million for 2017 in Germany and €4.5 million in its business outside of Germany.
Payback recently announced it will start offering its bonus program in Austria with 40 partner companies, including DM-Drogerie Markt, Media Markt and Otto from 3 May 2018.
The company posted a turnover of €29.8 billion in 2017 and currently operates in Germany, Poland, India, Mexico and Italy. It also has an office in New York.
