Supermarket group Pingo Doce and hypermarket chain Continente are among the ten most valuable brands in Portugal, according to a ranking published by On Strategy/Brand Finance.
In the list, which is led by energy company EDP, Pingo Doce (worth €2.15 billion) placed third, and is the only brand in the top five to register a growth in value - from €558 million to €639 million.
Continente was ranked seventh, with a value of €295 million.
Other companies from the Portuguese food and beverages sector in the top 30 ranking include: retail group Jerónimo Martins (11); beer brands Super Bock (16) and Sagres (17); Cash & Carry chain Recheio (18); agribusiness holding Sovena (20); beverages company Compal (26); coffee manufacturer Delta Cafés (28); and retailer Sonae (30).
