Polish retailer Piotr i Paweł has launched a new forecourt store concept alongside BP, with the unveiling of the first Piotr i Paweł 'Po Drodze' outlet in Warsaw.
Wiadomoscihandlowe.pl reported that the new concept is in the test phase, with the opening at Warsaw's Al. Jerozolimskie set to be followed by two more stores in Krakow and Poznan in the next two to three weeks.
Store Format
The stores will be around 140 to 150 square metres in size, and offer around 3,000 products (more than the 2,500 typically offered in BP forecourts in Poland), mainly focused around on-the-go products. The stores are also set to open 24 hours a day.
"As a fuel station operator, we have a great deal of experience operating convenience stores because of our cooperation with retail chains in other markets," said a BP spokesperson. The group works with Marks & Spencer in the UK, Rewe in Germany and Albert Heijn in The Netherlands on similar concepts.
According to Wiadomoscihandlowe.pl, there could be as many as 150 Piotr i Paweł stores in operation in BP forecourts in the years to come, depending on the success of these trial stores.
