Portuguese hypermarket chain Jumbo has launched an innovative new application for its Sintra outlet that aims to enhance the shopping experience by tracking the user's movements in store.
The chain, owned by France’s Auchan Group, introduced the Jumbo Sintra app as part of a new proximity tracking system that is being implemented at its newly opened store.
The app is linked with the indoor proximity system through the use of beacons, and allows customers to receive geo-localised information with news and updates on promotions in Jumbo Sintra, as well as in the adjacent shopping arcade.
According to the retailer, the beacons will also allow customers to make faster and more effective purchases, as they will be able to find the items they need with precision on the shop map.
The Jumbo Sintra app, developed by Near-by, can be downloaded for free from the Apple Store and Google Play.
