Sicilian family-owned food store Prezzemolo & Vitale will expand its presence in London by opening two new stores.
The outlets will be launched in Notting Hill and Borough Market in London.
The chain has seven stores in Palermo and one in Chelsea in London, which opened a year and a half ago.
The company, which has an annual turnover of €35 million, was founded more than 30 years ago in Palermo by Giuseppe Prezzemolo and Giusi Vitale.
It aimed to combine the grocery store experience and artisanal attention to food.
Store Assortment
The store assortment features high-quality products, ranging from food to wine, sourced from all over Italy.
The assortment includes cheese, charcuterie, freshly baked bread with natural leavening, meat from Sicilian farms, seafood and fresh fish selected by local fishermen, olive oil, preserves, fresh fruit, vegetables, as well as organic products.
Prezzemolo and Vitale personally take care of the entire supply chain, from selection to distribution, as well as export and foreign promotion.
The store also offers ready-made meals and sandwiches, and a wine bar that houses renowned wines, classics, and rarities sourced from small Italian and foreign winemakers.
Private-Label Products
Prezzemolo & Vitale also has its own brand Giù Giù, which offers tomato sauces, preserves, jams, honey, and beer manufactured by small, local, Sicilian producers.
According to a report in La Repubblica, Vitale said that it was easier to do business in London, as it is a niche market for Italian products and offers little competition for quality.
Also, customers in the UK are especially fond of cold cuts and cheese counters, as well as side dishes and take aways.
Recently, Prezzemolo & Vitale also introduced an online shopping service with same-day delivery in London.
