Eurelec Trading, a purchasing alliance between Germany's REWE Group and French operator Leclerc, has announced the appointment of a new managing director, effective August 2019.
Jérémie Vilain, who has led both the business insights and customer loyalty division at REWE Group, as well as the strategy department at Leclerc, has been appointed to the role, with REWE saying in a statement that his knowledge of both the French and German food trades will help him to 'further increase the impact' of the trading alliance.
'In addition to the introduction of Payback for REWE and PENNY in Germany, Jérémie Vilain has significantly shaped the data and insight business of the REWE Group,' the retailer said.
On the German side, Eurelec will be led by Jochen Baab, managing director of REWE Group Buying, as Vice President of the operation.
Over the next few years, Eurelec 'intends to enter into negotiations with other suppliers and further promote the strategic partnership between the two dealers', REWE Group said.
