Grocery retailer Ramstore, part of Turkey’s Migros Ticaret, has opened its largest store in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
Located in the City Shopping Mall in Skopje, the 3,500 square metre outlet previously housed French retailer Carrefour, which ended its activities in the Balkan country earlier this year.
This is Ramstore’s 21st store in Macedonia – it is also present in Kumanovo, Tetovo, Struga, Ohrid and Kicevo.
The new supermarket contains approximately 30,000 SKUs, with special sections for fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh meat and fish, a bakery and cooked food department. In addition, the store also sells household appliances and includes a café.
The Macedonian grocery retail market is dominated by two local players, discounter Kam and supermarket chain Tinex, while Greece’s Vero and Turkey’s Ramstore are the only foreign players.
