Rewe Group chairman Alain Caparros believes that an element of compromise should be applied to the ongoing takeover saga involving Edeka and Kaiser's Tengelmann.
"We can save the jobs at Kaiser's Tengelmann if we work together to split the stores fairly", said Caparros. "We agree for a partial solution, in which Rewe accepts the conditions from the ministerial permit to secure jobs, to co-determination and collective bargaining payment of employees for the stores that Rewe will assume."
Caparros added that the company's goal is to achieve a solution to help Rewe and Kaiser's Tengelmann's employees, as well as support the national competition in Germany's food retail market.
