German retailer REWE is set to expand its grocery delivery service in Nuremberg with the addition of a new delivery service warehouse.
The chain will offer an extended range of services, including same-day delivery.
REWE Delivery Service
According to the retailer, more and more people are ordering their weekly groceries online from home.
Since its launch in 2011, the REWE delivery service has been popular among its customers.
REWE noted that it is the only delivery service for fresh groceries in Germany that is available in more than 75 cities, including cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants, with its own delivery vehicles and permanent drivers.
In order to meet growing demands, the delivery service is now expanding its capacities and range of services.
To qualify for same day delivery, customers can visit the retailer's website or shop via its app, and choose a free delivery window from 5 that evening.
Customers can order from the usual selection of more than 12,000 products, including fresh products, such as fruit and vegetables, dairy products and meat, as well as private-label items and frozen products, among others.

Fulfilment Centre
With the opening of a specialised delivery service warehouse, even more customers in the Nuremberg region can avail of REWE's service.
The local fulfilment centre for food will allow the retailer to offer more time windows and more products.
The rental and conversion of the existing property, which is under the asset management of Athos Real Estate GmbH and owned by Goodwater Fünf GmbH, was carried out in record time, the retailer added.
Customer orders are picked from a 11,000 square-metre storage area and prepared for delivery by a fleet of special refrigerated vehicles.
Households in the city and surrounding towns are supplied from the warehouse in Nuremberg Langwasser, REWE noted.
Jan Bracken, head of operations at Rewe Lieferservice, said, "We are pleased to be able to supply more households in Nuremberg. For this we start at our new location with permanent drivers and a large fleet of vehicles. Nuremberg is an important location, and we really appreciate the ongoing demand from Nuremberg residents."
