German retail and travel cooperative Rewe Group has announced a number of new appointments to its supervisory board.
Sven Schäfer, businessman and deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Rewe Handels eG Hungen, René Schneider, businessman and supervisory board chairman of Rewe Nord-Ost eG, and Christoph Steverding, businessman and supervisory board member of Rewe Dortmund wholesale eG have all been appointed to the board.
Each will serve a term of four years, the company said.
Stepping down from the board, meanwhile, was Bruno Naumann (pictured), the former chairman of the supervisory board of Rewe Handels eG Hungen, who has been a member of the Rewe supervisory board since 2004.
Key Role
In a statement, Rewe said that Naumann played a key role in realigning the cooperation between Rewe headquarters and the group's retailers.
"As a businessman, Bruno Naumann has not only managed a very successful family business, but has always been committed to the positive development of Rewe as a whole," commented Erich Stockhausen, chairman of the supervisory board.
"His work in the committees of Rewe has made a decisive contribution to modernising and strengthening the role and responsibility of self-employed merchants."
