To commemorate the 20th birthday of the Cologne Food Bank, German retailer Rewe Group has donated 1,000 kilograms of apples and six pallets noodles to the charity initiative.
Commenting on the donation, Cologne Food bank chairwoman Karin Fuerhaupter said, “The donation is a great help. Our recipients are especially pleased with fresh produce."
Since 1996, Rewe Group has supported food banks, handling a range of food products that can't be sold any more but are still edible.
“Over the years, we have cooperated with Cologne Food Bank," said Rewe Group press officer Andreas Kraemer. "The effort of the volunteers, demands our respect and recognition."
