REWE International AG has announced the appointment of Espen B Larsen as a new member of its board.
Currently, Larsen serves as the managing director of Penny International in Cologne.
He will succeed Janusz Kulik, who is set to leave the company in 2021, REWE added.
An Experienced Professional
Kulik is an experienced professional, who joined REWE International AG’s board in 2009 and took up the responsibility of Billa and IKI retail chain in Central and Eastern Europe.
He joined REWE Group in 2002 as the CEO of miniMAL Poland, BILLA Russia and as a member of the Eurobilla management team.
In June 2007, he was appointed head of the National and International Discount Division and was appointed Chairman of the Discount Executive Board.
Kulik entered the food retail industry with Makro C + C in Poland and joined Carrefour Poland in 1998.
International Experience
Larsen is an accomplished professional with international experience.
He has been a member of the Penny International management team since October 2018.
His responsibilities include purchasing, purchasing organisation, strategic marketing, sustainability and expansion, and construction.
In 2010, Larsen joined the REWE Group in 2010 as the CEO of Penny Italy.
In June 2014, he took on the role of CEO at Penny Czech Republic until he moved to the Penny International management team.
Before joining the REWE Group, he served as the managing director of the Aldi Nord Group in Denmark.
He also held other managerial positions, including at Deutsche Bank, REWE added.
