UK retailer Sainsbury’s has appointed a new retail and operations director, Simon Roberts.
Roberts will report to Chief Executive Mike Coupe and will be an active member of the operating board.
Roberts’ previously held the position of executive vice president at Walgreens Boots Alliance and president of Boots in the UK and Ireland.
Roberts also previously held the role of Regional Director at Marks & Spencer, where he remained in various roles for 14 years.
He will take on the title of retail and operations director at Sainsbury’s from July 2017.
“I am thrilled to be joining Sainsbury’s, a brand I have admired and respected for many years, and particularly at such an exciting time for the business following its acquisition of Home Retail Group," Roberts said.
"I am really looking forward to joining Mike and the team and working with the 165,000 colleagues across Sainsbury's stores and operations to help customers live well for less.”
