The retail sales index in Romania has grown by 6.6% year-on-year in January 2019 (January 2018: 5.5%), reports news portal Romania Insider.
The sales of food increased by 4.3%, while non-food items saw a growth of 9.4% when compared with data for the same period in 2018.
The seasonally and workday adjusted sales index increased by 1.9% in January compared with December.
This is a high rate as it equates to an annualised rate of over 25%, the report said.
