Russian food retailer O'Key Group has announced the opening of a compact hypermarket in Novocherkassk.
The O'Key hypermarket, located in Baton Mall, at Yashchenko Street, is one of the new-format compact hypermarkets that the retailer has introduced recently.
Following openings in Moscow, St Petersburg and Yekaterinburg, this will be the first such outlet in southern Russia.
The store features a trade area of 4,000 square metres. It employs over 160 people to manage its selection of more than 25,5000 SKUs.
Made in Don
The store is certified with the 'Made in Don' label, which ensures high quality in the locally made products on offer. The retail company says that it will organise a large-scale promotion, Don Producer Week, launched in tandem with the opening of the store, which will offer customers the opportunity to taste goods manufactured by firms local to the Don area.
Irina Telarova, O'Key's director for the consumer market department in the Rostov region, highlighted the importance of the event in the region, saying, “The opening of the O'Key hypermarket in a new trade format is a landmark event for the consumer markets of both Novocherkassk and the Rostov Region.
“The new store will provide jobs to residents of the Don region,” Telarova added.
On the new format, Miodrag Borojević, CEO of O'Key, commented back in June, “The new-format hypermarkets are more convenient for customers, who can now complete their shopping journey within the optimal time frame, which is of strategic importance in the context of a highly competitive environment.”
