Finnish retailer S Group has announced that it is extending the opening hours at several of its Prisma supermarkets ahead of the christmas season.
Additionally, nine of its stores will remain open 24 hours a day from 15 December, to facilitate last-minute shopping.
"The end of the year is a stressful time for many," said Ilkka Alarotu, senior vice president of S Group.
"More than two million Finns can now decide what is the best time to do their Christmas shopping."
Russian Expansion
Elsewhere, Lebensmittel Zeitung reports that S Group plans to open up to 20 new Prisma stores in St. Petersburg and Leningrad by 2022.
The retailer currently operates six hypermarkets and ten supermarkets in the St. Petersburg region, but is said to be searching for additional locations.
"We hope to open new stores as early as 2018," said Jarmo Paavilainen, CEO of Prisma.
