British supermarket chain Sainsbury’s is reducing the Nectar points it offers its customers by 50 per cent.
Instead, it says it will offer more personalised rewards and bonus points to loyalty card holders.
From next April, Sainsbury's shoppers availing of the Nectar loyalty scheme will earn one point for every £1 spent in-store or online, down from the current two points per £1 being offered now.
The grocery retailer's customers will earn more bonus points through competitions, special events and increased personalised points offers such as on fuel and in the run-up to Christmas.
Sainsbury’s said it plans to launch high-value bonus events such as10xpoints on fuel along with adding more categories to its Christmas ‘Double Up’ event.
The retailer hopes to achieve a more engaging loyalty programme with the changes to the loyalty card scheme.
