UK retailer Sainsbury's has announced that Jo Harlow is joining its board as a non-executive director, effective immediately.
Harlow has worked in a number of senior roles in the consumer goods industry, having spent eight years at Procter & Gamble, and eleven years at Reebok, in addition to 12 years in the technology sector with positions in Nokia and Microsoft.
Currently, she serves as a non-executive director of InterContinental Hotels, German consumer electronics company Ceconomy, and technology group Halma.
“We are delighted to welcome Jo Harlow as a non-executive director," said Sainsbury's chairman David Tyler. "She brings to the board a wealth of experience in consumer-facing businesses and in the telecoms and technology industry, both in the UK and internationally. We are confident that she will make a valuable contribution to Sainsbury’s.”
Senior Reorganisation
Sainsbury's has said that Harlow will become a member of its remuneration committee and nomination committee, while non-executive director Matt Brittin will leave the audit committee to join the remuneration committee, trading places with Jean Tomlin.
Yesterday it was reported that Sainsbury's could be searching for a new chairman to succeed David Tyler, who is thought to be stepping down next year, however, the retailer has not yet made any announcements on this matter.
