UK retailer Sainsbury’s has announced that it will introduce wellness hubs in seven selected stores to expand its range of products in health and sports nutrition categories.
UK’s wellness market is expected to reach around £12.4billion by 2020.
The retailer aims to cater to the increasing demand for products in this segment through special food and drink items, supplements and vitamins.
A Range Of Products
The product offering will include hemp water, bone broths, activated nuts, superfood powders as well as a range of ready-to-drink, chilled sports juices, soft drinks, drinking vinegars, and egg white smoothies.
The retailer will introduce around 500 new products, including brands like Optimum Nutrition, Women’s Best and Tisserand.
It will also be the only supermarket in the UK to sell exclusive brands like No 1 Kombucha, Tribe and Curators
Popular Category
Sainsbury’s food commercial director, Paul Mills-Hicks, said, "Wellness and sports nutrition are areas that are becoming increasingly popular with our customers.
"To make sure they can find everything they need quickly and easily, we’ve doubled our range, introducing specialist and premium brands that customers won’t find in any other stores."
Future Expansion
The wellness hubs will be launched in November 2018 in Sainsbury’s Selly Oak, Newbury Park, Watchmoor Park, Coldhams Lane, and St Clares.
In January 2019, two more hubs will open in Sainsbury’s stores in Cheadle and Lee Green.
Further expansion of the concept will be based on the response from the first seven stores.
