UK supermarket chain Sainsbury's has launched a new coffee bar in six of its stores, allowing customers to order own brand coffees and teas to take away.
The new bars, called 1869 Coffee, will offer a wide range of hot drinks, including seasonal specials, as well as pastries and cakes. Hot sandwiches will also be available in selected stores.
The retailer has already opened 1869 Coffee outlets in its West Green, Cambridge, Eddington, Slough, Watford, and Alton stores, while another is set to open in Plymouth this week.
“By giving our customers the chance to grab and go a range of hot drinks and snacks at the front of the store, we are differentiating our in-store offer and delivering a great value takeaway experience," said Adrian Cook, director of fresh foods at Sainsbury's.
"It’s an exciting opportunity for us to listen and understand how our customers respond to a new trial like this."
