UK retailer Sainsbury's has increased its in-store food offer with cakes and pastries supplied by Patisserie Valerie on a limited trial basis.
Patisserie Valerie was established in London in 1926 and sells cakes and other dessert selections in its cafes, online and in selected stores. The Patisserie Valerie cakes will now be available at patisserie counters in 12 Sainsbury’s stores.
The handmade cakes and pastries are to be made and delivered by Patisserie Valerie in the morning and sold in the luxury brand’s own presentation boxes by Sainsbury’s.
Sushi Counters
Sainsbury's has also decided to expand its partnership with Sushi Gourmet.
Having trialled Sushi Gourmet counters in 20 stores, Sainsbury's is planning to roll this offering out to a further 30 stores in 2017.
Sainsbury's said that customer feedback on the sushi counters has been very positive and this has encouraged the retailer to roll the service out beyond the trial sample.
“These two trials are great examples of how we’re maximising our space to offer customers choice and convenience and we know that working with high-quality, trusted brands helps attract new customers to our stores,” said Sainsbury’s food commercial director, Paul Mills-Hicks.
