UK retailer Sainsbury's has begun searching for a successor to its long-serving chairman David Tyler, according to Sky News.
Tyler's departure from the supermarket chain has not yet been announced, but it is reported that he is likely to step down next year, after taking up the role of chairman almost eight years ago.
Sky News reports that the most likely internal successor would be director David Keens, however, another source said the company 'would probably opt for an external replacement'.
In the last year, Sainsbury's has made a number of new senior appointments, including Phil Jordan as chief information officer, and Kevin O'Byrne as chief financial officer.
Last year, the retailer posted a slight decrease in pre-tax profits in its full year results, however its food business "remains resilient in a challenging market", according to chief executive Mike Coupe.
