UK retailer Sainsbury’s is trialling a hot pizza pre-ordering service in three stores.
In what the retailer says is a 'first for UK supermarkets', customers using the service will be able to order a customisable pizza and collect it in-store a half an hour later.
The Sainsbury's takeaway pizzas come in sizes of 10 or 14 inches, with a stone-baked thin and crispy or deep pan base and with a selection of toppings including pepperoni, spicy beef, fresh peppers and roasted mushroom. Customers can also buy up to five extra items at a time, including wedges, salad and drinks.
The service is currently being trialled in Sainsbury’s Redhill and Cambridge Eddington stores with the Bradford store due to start the service in a week.
Speed And Convenience
“We want to help all of our customers to live well for less, and as part of this we’re continually looking at new ways to deliver high quality services that offer faster and more convenient options,” said Nicola Goodall, strategy executive at Sainsbury’s.
“By giving our customers the chance to pre-order personalised hot pizzas and pay at the counter we are saving them time and giving them a great value takeaway experience. As the UK’s first supermarket to test this service, this is an exciting trial for us to listen and understand how our customers respond."
Last month, the retailer expanded its one-hour grocery delivery service ‘Chop Chop’ to London’s Zones 1 and 2, making it available to over 1.7 million customers, according to Sainsbury’s.
