UK supermarket chain Sainsbury's is tapping into the vinyl revival by launching a range of records from its new Own Label imprint.
Two new vinyl compilation albums will be available in over 160 Sainsbury's superstores around the UK from Friday 3 November.
The retailer says that these exclusive records have been tailored to the tastes of its shoppers, capturing 'the classic sounds of the 60s and 70s', with artists such as Fleetwood Mac, Cat Stevens and Elton John.
Record Revival
Sainsbury's began stocking vinyl in March 2016 for the first time since the 1980s, as a result of growing consumer demand.
According to the retailer, the UK vinyl market has seen sales increase 37.6% to £37.3 million in the first half of 2017.
"Our customers’ love of vinyl shows no sign of abating, so alongside the classics albums, we want to offer our shoppers something they won’t find anywhere else," said Pete Selby, Sainsbury's head of music and books.
"Our exclusive Own Label records have been carefully tailored towards the inquisitive, cultured tastes of our customers so we’re confident that they’ll love the sound of our new releases and our ever increasing vinyl range.”
Sainsbury's says that in total it has sold almost 300,000 vinyl albums to date, with Fleetwood Mac's Rumours remaining its best-selling album.
