Sainsbury’s is adding over 20 digital Argos concessions to stores across the UK, which now brings the total of Argos concessions within the supermarket chain to 30.
Sainsbury’s recently acquired Home Retail Group plc, owner of Habitat and Argos, leading to the upcoming Argos concessions, along with a planned five mini Habitat stores within Sainsbury’s stores.
Up to 90,000 Argos products will be available for customers to buy under one roof, in a combination of food- and non-food-related retail products. Argos shoppers within Sainsbury’s will be able to make purchases in store via tablets or reserve items online.
The digital stores will be between 1,000 and 5,000 square feet in size.
Five new Habitat concessions ranging from 1,400 to 2,000 square feet are also planned for Sainsbury’s stores in the near future. The Habitat ranges are intended to complement Sainsbury’s own homeware sections.
Mike Coupe, chief executive of J Sainsbury plc, said, “This is the start of an exciting new phase for Sainsbury’s, Argos and Habitat. I am delighted to be able to quickly capitalise on the benefits of our combined group by opening more Argos digital concessions in our stores and introducing the mini Habitat format to our customers.
“Being able to shop across all three brands under one roof will make our customers’ lives even more convenient and offer them incredible choice.”
