Sales of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), in Spain grew by 1.8% in 2015, after recovering from a drop of 2.9% recorded in 2014.
As reported by efeempresas.com, an increase in both volume and prices explains the hike. In regards to volume, the growth registered was 0.3% (compared to a 1.8% drop in 2014), while prices raised by 0.7%.
According to these figures, 2015 saw the end of a deflationary environment and demand heightened. Consumers' total food expenditure grew by 1.01% in 2015, a trend that continued in 2016.
While consumers visits to shops and discount retailers grew, hypermarkets saw a decrease in volume sales.
