Schwarz Group, the parent company of Lidl and Kaufland, has named Gerd Chrzanowski as the new chief executive of the company, according to a report in the Lebensmittel Zeitung.
Chrzanowski, who succeeds Klaus Gehrig, will assume his new role with immediate effect.
Chrzanowski is an experienced professional, who served as a member of the Lidl executive board between 2008 to 2014.
He then went on to lead the management of Schwarz Zentrale Dienste.
In the spring of last year, the company appointed Chrzanowski as the deputy to Gehrig.
Elsewhere, Chrzanowski's deputy, Melanie Köhler, has been appointed as the chairman of the management board of Schwarz Dienstleistungen, the report added.
