Investment group Shore Capital has appointed Andrew Higginson as senior advisor to the business.
Higgison is an experienced executive, having worked at senior levels in a variety of successful British companies.
After working at Unilever, Guinness, Laura Ashley and the Burton Group, he joined the board of Tesco in 1997, where he spent 15 years and saw the group expand to become the world’s third top retailer.
Having retired from Tesco, Higginson has continued to be active in the consumer arena, holding senior board positions at several FTSE 100 and 250 companies.
He is Chairman of Wm Morrison Supermarkets and N Brown Group, as well as being a Non-Executive Director at Woolworths in South Africa and an advisor to Warburg Pincus LLP.
He has also served as a Senior Non-Executive Director at BskyB, and as a member of the Rugby Football Union’s board.
Chief Executive of Shore Capital Markets, Simone Fine commented on the appointment, "Andy is an exceptionally talented executive with an outstanding consumer industries reputation.
"We are delighted to have gained his services and we look forward to working together."
Higginson himself said, "I have know Shore Capital for many year and enjoy the Group’s entrepreneurial spirit and commercial approach; and am excited about the prospect of helping Shore Capital to build upon what has been an impressive track record to date."
