The shortlist has been announced for the 2019 IGD Awards, which are set to take place at London’s Tobacco Dock on 7 November.
More than 100 companies have been nominated for the awards, with shortlisted firms presenting their entries to a panel of industry experts in September.
Some 500 senior executives are expected to attend the Awards, which will conclude the two-day IGD Live event, taking place on 6 and 7 November.
Store Of The Year
The nominations for the coveted IGD Store Of The Year Award, which is sponsored by ESM: European Supermarket Magazine, include retailers from the UK, Finland, Ireland, the US and Brazil.
The nominees include Giant Heirloom, Philadelphia, USA; K-Citymarket, Järvenpää, Finland; Sainsbury's, Selly Oak, UK; Sam's Club Now, Dallas, USA; Pão de Açúcar, Sao Pãulo, Brazil; and SuperValu, Clonakilty, Ireland.
Elsewhere, the IGD Small Store of the Year Award will be contested by Henderson’s SPAR, Fortfield Belfast; 7-Eleven, Copenhagen; Fresh Atelier, Brussels; Hema fast&freshade, Shanghai; SPAR, Merrion Row, Dublin and Co-op on the go, London.
Top Prize
The most coveted award, for IGD Retailer of the Year, which is voted for by British shoppers, will be contested by the UK’s biggest grocery players, including Aldi Stores UK, Lidl, Waitrose, Iceland Foods, Tesco, the Co-operative Group, Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Morrisons.
