Italian regional retailer Simply Etruria ended 2016 with a turnover of over €211 million, which represents a 1% decrease on the previous year. Net profit for the same period amounted to €3 million.
Simply Etruria is the primary franchisee of France’s Auchan Group for Simply stores in Central Italy. It operates in the Tuscany, Umbria, Lazio regions and has a smaller presence in Liguria, Emilia-Romagna and Abruzzo.
The cooperative has 242 members and operates 303 stores.
Expansion
As part of the company's expansion plans, Simply Etruria opened a new distribution centre for fruit and vegetables last year.
The retailer has also recently started rolling out its new store format, Passioni Simply, featuring high quality food and wine, with special attention to local offerings and healthy products.
The Passioni Simply stores are also environmentally friendly - energy consumption has been reduced by more than 40%, while recycled materials have been used throughout the store.
Last month, a new Passioni Simply store was opened in the Tuscan city of Siena, offering over 1,200 products.
