The Slovenian grocery retail market was worth €3.86 billion last year, representing growth of 0.3% compared to the previous year, according to Dnevnik.
Local retail group Mercator maintained its position as the market leader with a 34.2% share, however, this was down by 2 percentage points year-on-year.
Meanwhile, Spar was second with a 18.76% share (+0.5%), followed by Engrotuš with 12.45%.
Elsewhere, the discounters are slowing approaching the major retailers, with Hofer securing a 10.86% market share (+0.5%), and Lidl with 8.34% (+0.5%).
Italian discounter Eurospin also registered marginal growth, and now has a 3% market share.
