Spanish consumers are expected to spend an average of €234 online this Christmas season, a 29% increase compared to last year's seasonal expenditure, according to a study by delivery companies SEUR and DPDgroup.
Seventy-nine per cent of European online shoppers said they will buy Christmas presents online and the average estimated budget was €217, 21% more than last year. Irish consumers had the highest budget of €305, followed by the UK (€292), Switzerland (€283) and Austria (€240). Spanish online shoppers had the fifth highest estimated budget.
More than 23,000 individuals from 21 countries participated in the study.
The most popular products to buy online this season included toys, books, fashion items, beauty products, and electronics.
Ramping up to the holiday season, Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales are slated to be the highest ever this year.
