SPAR Australia has announced the opening of a new distribution centre in Brisbane, Queensland, which opened on 13 October.
The facility is located within ESR Australia’s Acacia Ridge Business Park, and covers 13,400 square meters of floor space.
According to the company, one of the goals of this decision to open the facility was to support and contribute to the local economy and the industrial community.
'Better Service For The Network'
“Consolidating operations to the Acacia Ridge site enables SPAR to better service its network of licensees, the majority of which are family-run small businesses, who support their local community by offering the best service,” said Lou Jardin, SPAR Australia’s managing director.
The new facility will supply 240 branded and independent retail supermarkets across Australia's eastern seaboard, and will contribute to the employment of more than 2,500 workers across the network of SPAR stores.
SPAR said the advanced infrastructure from the new warehouse will be more efficient and sustainable, which in turn will better serve the local community.
“The opening of SPAR’s distribution facility within ESR Australia’s Acacia Ridge Business Park exemplifies the robust growth within Queensland’s industrial sector, fuelled by growing demand for local manufacturing and distribution facilities.” added Phil Pearce, ESR Australia’s chief executive.
