Spar Austria has announced plans to launch 20 new Spar Express forecourt outlets across the country, over the next 14 months.
The retailer has revised the layout of new Spar Express stores to focus on fresh items.
The stores will also implement eco-friendly cooling and lighting solutions to reduce their environmental footprint.
Spar Express forecourt is considered a leading concept in Austria due to its location, extensive range on offer, and extended opening hours, the retailer added.
'Unique And Tailored'
Managing director of Spar Austria for Vienna, Lower Austria, and Northern Burgenland, Alois Huber, said, "No other forecourt store in Austria offers a supermarket range at these prices as well as 24/7 service. The concept of Spar Express stores is unique and tailored to the needs of our customers. We fill the gap of shopping at supermarket prices outside of regular opening hours."
Spar Express forecourt stores have seen sales performances above the Austrian food market, which reflect the customers’ need for more flexibility in grocery shopping.
New Store Launch
Spar Austria has opened its first new format Spar Express store featuring a fresh market area in Amstetten in Lower Austria.
It is the 15th Spar Express store in Lower Austria, and the 51st store in association with forecourt operator, Doppler.
The store, with a sales area of 80 square metres, offers daily products including freshly baked bread and pastries, fruit, vegetables, flowers and coffee-to-go.
