Spar Austria has announced that it has reopened its supermarket in St. Marein, near the town of Graz, in the southeastern province of Styria.
The reopening followed extensive refurbishments, carried out to create more space, update the store-design, add insulation and upgrade the heating and cooling systems, in line with the latest energy-saving technology.
The redesigned store, which measures around 670 square metres, has been fitted with a heat-recovery unit, to recycle the ‘waste’ heat produced by the cooling systems.
The new supermarket's assortment will focus on fresh, regional produce.
The store will provide employment for two managers and 20 staff. Spar is the largest private employer in Austria, where the company also trains around 2,700 apprentices per year.
