Spar Russia experienced above-industry-average growth last year, with an overall sales increase of 19%. Spar operates 420 stores across Russia, spanning from north-west St Petersburg to Irkutsk, in south-eastern Siberia, with a combined sales area of 294,740 square metres.
The 12 Spar partners operating in Russia opened 75 new stores last year.
Last year, Spar Russia recorded 61% growth in sales for its own-brand ranges, largely owing to the huge emphasis that the company has put on the development of these products.
Spar Russia operates under Spar Express, Spar, Eurospar and Interspar stores across the country, depending on the most suitable format for the region’s consumer market.
“We are confident in the continued growth of Spar in Russia,” says Spar Russia's managing director, Sergey Loktev. “Spar is very attractive to regional retailers. They feel the spirit of cooperation and appreciate the free exchange of knowledge and expertise between the partners. This is Spar’s greatest advantage, and it’s what makes us all grow and move forward.”
