Spar South Africa has launched a new fitness programme, My Home Gym, to promote an active lifestyle among its customers and employees.
The programme is designed to motivate people to keep exercising, three times a week, once the initial eight-week plan has established a training routine.
To explain and demonstrate the exercises, the Spar South Africa website offers videos and guides, which are free to download and print.
Spar South Africa food safety manager & dietitian, Lauren Wilson, explained, "We want our customers and employees to focus on healthy eating and exercise but we understand that with busy work and family schedules, keeping this up can be tough.
"That’s why we have asked professional bio-kineticist, Joe Xaba, to help us put together an exercise programme that can be followed at home, with videos to show each exercise’s technique."
In addition to co-developing My Home Gym, Spar South Africa sponsors the country's Netball team and the soccer club AmaZulu, and co-organises road races, which promote women’s running across the country.
