SPAR Spain partner Grupo Upper has announced the opening of a new distribution centre for chilled goods in the industrial area of Los Camachos Sur, in Cartagena.
With a surface area of 5,000 square metres and capacity of 16,000 cubic metres, the new DC stocks fruit and vegetables, refrigerated goods and fish.
The new warehouse will also include office facilities, the retailer noted.
The SPAR partner operates EUROSPAR Supermarkets, SPAR Supermarkets and SPAR Express stores situated in urban areas around Almería, Granada, Murcia, Albacete, and Alicante.
For the inauguration, managers and team members from operations were joined by the president and the general manager of Grupo Upper along with the mayoress of Cartagena.

The new refrigerated warehouse will create 65 jobs for the locality.
In addition, SPAR Spain has announced that its partner Fragadis added over 50 new team members to cover an expected increase of customers in tourist towns during the summer months.
The number of new hires will increase in the coming weeks. SPAR Spain said the seasonal staff will offer support in the areas of fresh food, at the POS, and stocking.
The SPAR Spain partner offers seasonal team members the same conditions as permanent staff, including discounts on purchases in all the company’s supermarkets by means of the employee card.
Fragadis currently employs more than 2,300 colleagues in its stores and has a strong presence in the provinces of Tarragona, Castellón, and Alicante, with stores in popular tourist destinations of the Costa Blanca, including Salou, Cambrils, Calpe, Gandía, Benidorm, and Alcossebre.
