Spar Zimbabwe has opened a new store in Kwekwe, a mining city considered the 'industrial centre' of the country.
The new store features 1,020 square metres of selling space, with butchery, bakery, food-to-go, fresh fruit and vegetables, frozen, and dairy departments.
Spar Expansion
It is the 14th Spar store in Zimbabwe, bringing the total number of Spar stores nationwide to 34. Its opening created 70 new jobs for the region.
The new store is located close to the Central Business District and opened with a road show, supplier demos outside the store and entertainment throughout the day.
The Mayor of Kwekwe, Councillor Matenda Madzoke, gave an official address and members of the press were also in attendance.
The retailer said that the store will soon expand to include a restaurant and a Tops liquor store.
Closer to home, Spar recently opened its biggest supermarket in Georgia to date, in the city of Kutaisi. The store has maintained its focus on fresh produce and traditional Georgian bakery products.
