According to a study by the catalogue website Tiendeo, 39 per cent of Spanish consumers say that they increase their expenditure in supermarkets during the summer, compared to the rest of the year. In contrast, 7 per cent say they reduce their spend during the summer months, while and 54 per cent say that it will stay the same.
The report, analysed on revistainforetail.com, also shows that fashion and food are the main categories of interest for consumers during the summer season: 49 per cent of them look for offers in clothes and shoes and 30 per cent search for food promotions.
The study also shows that consumers change certain habits during the season, 26 per cent of consumers said they stop buying certain vegetables and pre-cooked broths and creams. Some 15 per cent of respondents said they reduce consumption of sweets and baked goods.
