Survey Finds European Consumers More Concerned About Brexit Than British

Surveying over 7,000 consumers across Germany, Spain, Italy and Poland, market intelligence agency Mintel has found European consumers to be more concerned about the effects of ‘Brexit’ than consumers in the UK.

Between 30% and 48% of surveyed consumers fear Brexit will have a negative impact on their national economy as well as the British economy - compared to 39% of consumers in the UK.

On the subject of employment, between 40% and 50% of the European consumers feel that Brexit will have a negative impact on their national employment levels, compared to less than 37% of British consumers - 24% of Brits feel that employment levels will actually benefit from Britain leaving the EU.

On the other hand, almost half of UK consumers believe their cost of living will increase, which is shown to be less of a concern for their European counterparts. Changes in career prospects or individual household budgets are feared the least by all those surveyed.
