Swedish retailer ICA has seen like-for-like sales across its store portfolio rise by 2.4% in the month of May, to SEK 9.754 billion.
Its Maxi ICA Stormarknad division posted the strongest increase in like-for-like sales, rising by 3.3%. Its ICA Kvantum and ICA Supermarket each saw sales rise by 2.4%, while its ICA Nära business saw a 1.2% increase.
There was no calendar effect in the month of May, the retailer said.
January To May
Sales in the period January-May 2017 amounted to SEK 45.861 billion, an increase of 2.5% compared with the previous year. Again, its Maxi ICA Stormarknad posted the strongest performance over this period, rising by 2.1%.
At 31 May 2017, the number of ICA stores in Sweden was 1,293.
Last December, ICA acquired the Lithuanian grocery business IKI, for €213 million, in a move that makes the retailer the second largest in the Baltic state.
