Swiss retailer Coop (CH) has recorded preliminary sales results for its financial year 2012, with a net sales increase of 0.3 per cent to CHF27.8 billion (about €22.9 billion), according to Planet Retail.
The group's 823 stores in its grocery retail banners saw a 0.5 per cent dip in sales to CHF11 billion (about €9 billion) which was attributed to price decreases on 1,500 items, dropping by up to 8.2 per cent in some of its formats. Planet Retail reports that prices were 1.2 per cent lower overall, than in 2011.
Competitor Migros has reported that its online shopping website LeShop, generated a turnover of CHF150 million (about €124 million) in 2012, with the retailers' mobile devices, and DRIVE and RAIL services drawing in new customers. (8 Jan)
