Tesco PLC has announced the appointment of Melissa Bethell as a non-executive director in the company’s board. She will also be a member of the audit committee.
Bethell will take charge of her new responsibilities on 24 September 2018.
She has previously held non-executive director positions at Samsonite and Worldpay.
A Seasoned Professional
Bethell has been an executive and non-executive board member for various companies.
Presently, she is the managing partner of Atairos Europe, an investment fund backed by Comcast NBC Universal.
Bethell is also a director of Exor, a listed holding company for Italy's Agnelli family, and chairs the audit committee.
For over 18 years, she was a managing director at the global private equity firm, Bain Capital. She was also part of a senior leadership team in the company that was responsible for strategy setting, fundraising and portfolio management.
She continues to remain a senior advisor to the company.
Before joining Bain Capital, she was a part of the Capital Markets group at Goldman, Sachs & Co. Her role there was focussed around media and technology.
“I am delighted to welcome Melissa to the Board as a non-executive Director. Her broad range of skills and experience will be of significant benefit to the Board as we implement our strategy. The Board and I very much look forward to working with her over the coming years,” said Tesco chairman John Allan.
