Tesco has introduced an extra 4,000 ‘here to help’ colleagues across its UK stores to help its customers find forgotten products and ideal gifts, or just give moral support if the Christmas shopping gets a bit too much.
These stores will also have Christmas greeters, who will point shoppers in the right direction and entertain younger customers with seasonal treats, while Tesco’s 1,700 Express stores will each have a dedicated colleague in place on Christmas Eve to help shoppers find last-minute Christmas essentials.
Tony Hoggett, UK Retail Director at Tesco commented, “We all know what a busy time Christmas can be, so our colleagues will be on hand to help in any way they can, whether that’s helping to find that last minute Christmas present or greeting customers with that extra bit of festive cheer.”
“ Throughout the festive season we’ve been providing customers with ‘little helps’ to make Christmas that little bit easier, so we hope this festive season is relatively stress-free.”
Staff from Tesco’s Head Office are also lending a hand, with 5000 taking part in Tesco’s ‘Feet on the Floor’ programme and offering extra help in stores during the busy Christmas shopping period.
Meanwhile, this month Tesco is holding its largest ever service recognition programme, which sees a ‘service superstar’ selected in each store everyday from December 1 to January 3.
