Tesco has removed all Schweppes products from its supermarket shelves after a disagreement with Coca-Cola over prices, according to reports in the UK press.
Britain's biggest retailer is currently looking to renegotiate deals with its suppliers and cutting purchase prices. The company is said to have argued with suppliers that falling commodity prices should allow Tesco to offer lower prices to its customers.
According to The Grocer, Tesco and Coca-Cola clashed when the British retailer refused to meet Coca-Cola's request to increase prices.
This has led to a range of 25 different Schweppes products being suspended from both stores and online. Three versions of the brand's one-litre bottles are set to return to the store this week, however, the row between Tesco and Coca-Cola is still unresolved.
"Due to a supply issue, we have had to temporarily adjust some of our ranges. We continue to work in close collaboration with our suppliers, to provide our customers with the best products, the greatest value and fantastic availability," a Tesco spokesperson said.
Tesco has also taken Kingsmill bread off the shelves this month. The news of delisting the bread came just a week after Allied Bakeries, parent company of Kingsmill, announced the departure of longstanding chief executive Mark Fairweather.
