Tesco has announced that it is to introduce a fee of £4 for deliveries worth under £40, the Guardian reports.
Previously the surchare only applied in the case of orders worth less that £25. The new scheme, which will apply also to those who have signed up to Tesco’s Delivery Saver programme, will come into effect on 23 July.
The retailer commented,"We’re changing the minimum basket spend when you shop online for your groceries to £40. Customers will still be able to benefit from a range of offers, including our Delivery Saver scheme, £1 one hour delivery slots and our free Click & Collect grocery service."
There has been a significant expression of dissatisfaction on social media as a result of the Tesco's decision.
