Three chains have made moves recently to expand in Spain, FinancialFood.es has reported.
International retailer Spar has opened a new supermarket in Los Belones in Murcia, while Spanish proximity retailer Condis has expanded in Sant Boi de Llobregat in Barcelona.
Distribution chain Gadisa, which is concentrated in northeastern Spain, has expanded in the Castilla y León region with the opening of the first Gadis supermarket in the province of Ávila.
The new Spar outlet is 200 metres square, and pays special attention to the meat, deli, fresh produce and bakery segments. It offers leading branded products, as well as own-brands such as Spar and Sensations.
Condis Store
The Condis store also has a sales space of 200 metres square, with frozen, pharmacy, perfume, fresh produce, and bakery sections, as well as meat and deli counters.
With this opening, Condis adds a new sales point in Baix Llobregat, where it already has 76 centres, totalling 28,407 metres square.
In total, the group has 442 establishments in Catalonia, with a sales space of more than 180,000 square metres.
Gadis Outlet
As for the Gadis supermarket, it is the company's second outlet launched in Castilla y León in the current financial year, following the opening of a Claudio Express in León.
In total, there are 35 Gadis supermarkets in the region, with additional stores in Valladolid, Salamanca, León, and Palencia.
The large format store is more than 1,300 metres square. The comfort of the functional and bright space, as well as a free parking service, speeds up shopping time for customers.
Gadisa owns 217 Gadis supermarkets, 12 Cash Ifa outlets, and 162 Claudio franchises in Spain.
